June 6th:

After a wild night of clubbing, we woke up (a little hungover) to make our way to the famous M1 Cafe for breakfast. If you ask any Taiwanese person, I think they will recommend this place to you. The food was pretty good.

A bomb omelette with some fresh orange juice and sweet tea.
When we finished the meal, we parted with Maika's friends, and headed out to shop for some sandals. As a background story, my father's old hand-me-down Birkenstocks finally gave out on my and Japan doesn't have my size. If they do, it would be pricier anyhow. We found my size in Taipei and for a reasonable price. It wasn't particularly eventful but there WAS this awesome temple we walked by. Unlike most Japanese, Taipei did not have very many shrines/temples in the city. The picture doesn't do it justice, but the one I did see was pretty intricate.

Shopping! Looks pretty similar to Japan..

This was the entrance located on the side of some random city street.
In the evening it was time to hit up the downtown area again, except this time we would actually walk around city hall and go up Taipei 101. The evening was cool compared to the scorching hot afternoon, and the city lights created an enchanting feeling. We had a lovely dinner on the first floor of Taipei 101, and then walked through city hall. Here are some pics:

Taipei 101 from the base. Massive..

A little further away after the lights went on.
Maika looking cute at Tapei City Hall.

City Hall, definitely a Western influence here.

One more time with the moon.

For dinner I had this. More Thai than Taiwanese, but tasted awsome.

Dope!

A new shirt I got in Taipei, since I needed it too.

Last one of the tower I swear..
The trip up the building featured a very futuristic elevator that makes it up the height of the building at speeds so fast they needed to pressurize the cabin of the elevator so your ears don't pop. Here are the pictures from the top.

Pretty flat skyline. Keep in mind this building is WAY taller than anything in Taipei.

This gigantic damper in the building so it can withstand the typhoons of Taipei.

There are the next tallest buildings... lol..

Don't look down.

The needle at the top of the building.
This wouldn't be complete without an animal post. Here's a cool bug I found at the top of the building...
Panorama.
As a conclusion. Here is a video of my girlfriend unknowingly being filmed during the elevator ride down. Aside from her cute face, you can see the speed at which the elevator drops by looking at the TV screen. Check it out!

July 5th:

On Saturday Maika and I headed out one of Taiwan's famous "cat cafes". Maika and I both adore animals, and felines are among the top of the list. I have 2 cats at home and miss the animal affection, so I felt this was a necessity for my stay in Taipei. Here are a bunch of pictures/video:

Cat in the back on the table. It ended up being a fun one to mess with. There was even a shaved golden retriever that didn't quite seem in the best health, but was happy to be fed by the guests.
Then there was this little kitten.

Eating his little kibbles of cat food.

Look at those kitten eyes.

This one was adorable too. It kept playfully pouncing on my hands.

After the cat cafe, we took a nap that may have been a tad longer than it should have been. We woke up in the evening and decided to visit Taipei 101 and Taipei City Hall for dinner. Some pics:

Stepping out of the subway station and looking up at Taipei 101 was pretty nuts. It is half a kilometer tall.

Some bomb noodles for dinner.

Extravagant mall at the foot of Taipei 101 with basically every expensive brand store you could name.. eh..
After dinner, we headed back to the room to get ready to hit Club Myst with Maika's friends. Her friend Fiona had connections to a bunch of clubs in Taipei apparently. We got to skip the lines, got a table, and all the drinks we wanted. The club was pretty epic. Even the bathrooms were super nice.

The view from the urinals.. Probably not legal to take a picture like this. Good thing I didn't use flash.
I danced, talked and drank with Maika and her friends for a couple hours before we called it quits. It was certainly a wild, unforgettable night.. Another wonderful day in Taipei.
